Angus Croudace
Senior Ecologist
Widely interested in the Scottish landscape, Angus studied earth sciences and concluded his degree with a peer reviewed publication researching plumage colouration in dinosaurs. He then switched his focus to ecology and is now a passionate and enthusiastic project manager and fieldworker with six years experience. Angus specialises in upland and montane ornithology and spends most of his spare time monitoring breeding raptors and waders under licence as well as surveying for eagle, hen harrier and red kite roost sites in the winter. He contributes data to Highland Raptor Study Group and is also involved in ongoing Redwing research projects studying several Schedule 1 species.Â
Angus' mountain skillset has led to many survey opportunities in the remotest parts of Scotland. He has worked as a Research Assistant for the RSPB on national Hen Harrier and Montane surveys and is contributing to the 2026 Merlin survey. Previously, he has worked for the BTO on Winter Gull Surveys (WinGS) and Non-Estuarine Wetland Bird Surveys (NEWS), as well as for several other ecological consultancies. For four autumn seasons 2022-2025 he has returned to Lundy Bird Observatory to monitor migration, expanding his experience to include scarce and rare passage migrants of the Western Palearctic and beyond! In addition to ornithology his skills also include GIS, habitat surveys, butterfly surveys and peatland restoration works.Â
