Tree Regeneration Survey for RSPB Abernethy

Redwing are delighted to have had the opportunity to be involved in the most recent survey of tree regeneration at Abernethy Forest National Nature Reserve in the Cairngorm National Park.

Taransay UKHab survey

Redwing are being commissioned for an increasing number of UKHab surveys both for commercial and conservation projects. Designed to be used alongside a standardised Habitat Condition Assessment system, this method produces baseline data to advise on how habitats can best be improved for biodiversity, by calculating potential Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).

Slavonian Grebe breeding habitat assessment

In autumn/winter 2025, Redwing were contracted by the RSPB to carry out assessments of Slavonian Grebe breeding habitat on lochs around the Central Highlands, as part of the RSPB’s ‘Saving Slavonian Grebes’ project which was supported by the Scottish Government’s Nature Restoration Fund (NRF), managed by NatureScot.

Surveys for Wind Farms and Energy Infrastructure

To date, Redwing has provided the ornithological survey resources and expertise for several hundred onshore wind farms and other energy infrastructure projects such as overhead lines, grid connections and hydro schemes across mainland Scotland and islands including Skye, the Western Isles and the Northern Isles.

Moray West Offshore Wind Farm

Redwing provided Environmental Clerk of Works services for the Moray West Offshore Windfarm Project, ensuring compliance on cabling, substation work, protected species, water quality, biodiversity, and reinstatement standards. Duties included daily logs and monthly reports for the client.
