Redwing are proud to announce a collaboration project with fellow ecological consultancy Atlantic58, supporting the Atlantic Salmon Trust and Soval Estate with practical conservation of Atlantic salmon in the Outer Hebrides.
Redwing and Atlantic58 are thrilled to support a new project led by the Atlantic Salmon Trust, in partnership with the Soval Estate. This project is the first of its kind in the Outer Hebrides, with the initial part of the work set to identify opportunities for long-term riverine and wider habitat improvement across the Laxay catchment area, spanning 14,150 hectares.
The catchment area is important for Atlantic salmon, a species which has been in decline for several decades and is now endangered in Great Britain. The project will explore methods of improving resilience in the catchment to protect against the impacts of climate change, as well as increasing biodiversity across both the instream and wider habitat.
Redwing are delighted to be collaborating with Atlantic58 to support the first phase of the project, comprising of a baseline ecological report and broadscale opportunities for habitat enhancement, with subsequent recommendations for monitoring.
